About GP Psychiatry Support Line

The GP Psychiatry Support Line is a free service to GPs to help you manage the care of mental health consumers.
Our advice can help you with:
Diagnosis - Investigation - Medication - Safety Plan
It is not about triaging or referring consumers to a psychiatrist, but rather keeping consumers whose conditions are able to be treated within primary care under the care of their GP.
To access this service, you will first need to take 2 minutes to register (once only).
You will need your AHPRA Registration Number, and practice details.

HOW CAN THE SERVICE HELP ME?
Access to our psychiatrists support GPs in managing the care mental health of consumers. It is NOT a triage or referral service, nor an emergency service.
WHEN CAN I CALL?
NSW, VIC & QLD - Between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
NT & SA - Between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
(Excluding Public Holidays)
CAN I CONTACT YOU ANY OTHER WAY?
Once you have registered, you can make bookings online.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Register online at gpsupport.org.au or call 1800 16 17 18 and we can help register for you. You will need your AHPRA Registration Number handy.
CAN I ENQUIRE ABOUT CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS?
Yes. Whilst not all of our psychiatrists specialise in younger patients, they have all worked in the public system and have offered assistance to children and young adults.
WHAT IS THE COST OF THE SERVICE?
It is a free service for GPs.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I USE THE SERVICE?
As many times as you wish.
IS THIS SERVICE ONLY AVAILABLE TO GPs?
Yes, this is exclusive to GPs who practise within the PHN areas below.
